the 21st Century

user friendly Web site.
We will be updating the site several times a year and hope this will become a tool that you will be able to use to contact suppliers and other members. Convention forms can be downloaded and photo contest entries are now accepted over the Internet. The winners of each year’s photo contest will be posted on the Web site. (It’s been awhile since we’ve heard that phrase)

CANVAS PRODUCTS ASSN, ZONE 7 HAS SENSATIONAL CONFERENCE!!

In December of 2009 we returned to our traditional dates, modified the schedule, teamed with IFAI, negotiated great rates and held a very successful 2 day conference.

It’s no secret we’re all struggling in this economy so your association leadership, spearheaded by President Hank Proctor, offered a venue for networking and most importantly a chance to enjoy a trade show and meet with our suppliers without the expense of having to travel to IFAI which was held in San Diego last year. We had 18 tabletop displays as well as a supplier forum so that we could all see what’s new and hear from the people we all need to stay in business.

A program by Andy Morse of Ohio Awning recently offered at an IFAI expo completed the Friday morning programs. This timely seminar focused on effective strategies for efficiency and cost cutting in all facets of your operation. We thank Andy for his time and preparation for this presentation.

The conference was held in conjunction with IFAI’S Fabric Graphics’ Division Sewing Machine Workshop held at Glawe Awning and Tent Company.

Our goal was to provide you with an affordable alternative to a longer convention. You could arrive Thursday afternoon, stay one evening in a $99.00 per night Hotel and pay a registration of $125.00. This included a Thursday evening Market Day, Cocktail hour and dinner.

Breakfast and lunch were provided on Friday as well as the Business Meeting, the Supplier Forum and Andy’s presentation. We were able to do this with the supplier’s help and also with the aid of the dues you pay each year. We had a great deal of positive feedback and we will repeat this scenario in December 2010. Please make sure as you pay your Dues that your email addresses are correct so that we may keep in touch with you via email. Remember to keep checking our Web site www.canvaszone7.com for updates. We will know the location by April of this year.

We will also be partnering with PAMA (Professional Awning Manufacturers Association-a division of IFAI) to offer a program such as we did with the sewing machine workshop. If you participate in this program you will need to come in Wednesday evening and this program will be held during the day on Thursday and tie in with the conference that evening. There will be a separate registration for this event.
